Questions & Answers
1What is cellulite?
Cellulite is skin that looks dimpled or lumpy, possibly due to fat deposits pushing up between strands of connective tissue under the skin. It commonly appears on the thighs, hips, and buttocks, and occurs more often in women than in men.
For some people, cellulite appears as they age, while for others it is associated with weight gain. It also tends to run in families, and although you probably don’t like the way it makes your skin look, it’s not harmful to your health.
2How is cellulite treated at Layan Laser and Skincare Center?
Dr. Munir is pleased to offer microneedling to his patients for cellulite treatment. Microneedling is an effective way to get rid of the uneven, bumpy look that cellulite creates on your skin, and it works on all skin types. It is a popular option for treating cellulite because it’s a nonsurgical, minimally-invasive procedure that offers results with very little risk involved.
3How does microneedling work?
Microneedling taps into the body’s own ability to heal itself when it is wounded. During a treatment session, Dr. Munir uses a small handheld device with tiny needles that penetrate the skin to create small channels in the skin’s outermost layers.
These microchannels only cause minimal bleeding and don’t harm the skin, but instead prompt the body to begin healing itself naturally. As a result, growth factors are released that induce collagen and elastin production, which regenerates the skin. In fact, microneedling is sometimes referred to as collagen induction therapy. As the skin heals itself and regrows, it appears more even and full, reducing the appearance of cellulite.
4How many treatments will I need?
Some patients need or want multiple microneedling treatments to see optimal results. Dr. Munir assesses your skin and recommends a personalized treatment plan for you, based on the extent and location of your cellulite and your individual aesthetic goals.
Dr. Munir may also suggest additional skincare treatments and products that can help enhance the look of your treated skin. Because microneedling increases product absorption, it’s important to use the recommended lotions and creams on your skin to make the results of microneedling most effective.
